This year CMA CGM Group is supporting more than 35,000 Americans with turkeys donations for Thanksgiving across the country. In addition to the actual donations, CEVA Logistics (a subsidiary) is coordinating all of the ground transportation for the turkey distributions. Another subsidiary, APL, is providing Thanksgiving food boxes for U.S. troops and their families in coordination with the USO (United Services Organization).
Bring the Challenge On
Three weeks before the holiday, they could not find a source for turkeys. Interra International upon hearing of their difficulties, our sales manager was able to find 10,000 turkeys from Butterball, a sister company of Seaboard Overseas & Trading Group (an Interra affiliate). Interra and team facilitated with the paperwork and logistics to assist with the turkey donations. Butterball sold the turkeys to Interra and we sold to CMA at cost and the turkeys were donated to American families in need.
Our logistics coordinated the pickups for CMA CGM to ensure on-time deliveries to five different locations – Norfolk, VA, Nashville, TN, Houston, TX, Lake Charles, LA, and Los Angeles, CA. With Interra’s help, CMA CGM successfully donated turkeys and meals to 35,000 people across the country.
Thanks to Interra’s close relationship with Butterball, we had access to product that wasn’t readily available. We also had the structure in place to facilitate the transaction, and the expertise to make it happen.
For everyone involved in helping American families have a warm and hearty meal this Thanksgiving, we are incredibly grateful. The ability to give back to communities across America is a pleasure and an honor. We wish everyone a healthy, happy, and hearty Thanksgiving holiday!
